Wise Family Declaration of Happiness

Just a little something I came up with of "rules" or guidelines we strive to follow in our family.....

Family Pillars to Teach & Know

Faith in God
Self-Reliance
Obedience to God’s Commandments
Love of family, learning, scriptures
How to feel and follow promptings of the Holy Ghost
A testimony of: Jesus Christ and his atonement, the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, of Joseph Smith and the Restoration, the importance of families

“Family Time is Happy Time, Let’s Play!” ~Wise family motto

1. Cleanliness is next to godliness.
2. Create an atmosphere where we daily feel the Spirit in our home.
3. When you do wrong, acknowledge it, and make it right.
4. When we’re helping we’re happy.
5. Eat only at the table.
6. We love books! Treat them with respect: No ripping or folding pages
or otherwise maiming the books.
7. Snacks in baggies belong outside.
8. Hugging, not hitting.
9. Say “I’m sorry” and “I love you” followed by a hug and/or a kiss after
hurting someone or being unkind.
10. Say “Yes, mom” when mom asks you to do something,
and then do it quickly.
11. Give Amalia space. Be soft with her. Ask permission to hold her.
12. Videos only allowed ½ hour after waking up, and ½ hour after naps or
during quiet time, or otherwise special occasions permitted by mom or dad.
13. Be dressed and ready for the day no later than 9 am daily.
14. Only one box of toys out at a time.
15. Clean up mess before moving onto next.
16. Always pray before meals to thank Heavenly Father for the blessing of food.
17. Ask permission to leave the table once finished eating.
18. Put your own dirty dishes in the sink.
19. Say please before requests.
20. Say thank you after someone does something nice for you.
21. Make your bed every day.
22. If visiting someone else’s home, leave the place cleaner than you found it, always say please and thank you, and offer to help.
23. Play the piano and sing daily.
24. Off-limits: computer, cell phones. Ask permission to play the piano, use markers, crayons, or paint.
25. No climbing on the table or countertops.
26. No yelling or screaming inside the house.
27. Play outside at least an hour a day, weather permitting.
Especially for Mom & Dad
28. 10/20 Rule for Home & Visiting teaching: set up appointments by the 10th of each month, visit and report by the 20th.
29. Go to sleep with a “shiny sink.”
30. No yelling at kids. Use firm, stern voice.
31. Spank on the bottom or swat a hand only in circumstances where nothing else works. Do everything else before using this as an option.
32. Attend all church meetings on Sunday. Make all efforts to attend all church activities during the week and help out if possible.
